Indication:
Native to Northern Europe and Central Asia, Camelina is a herbaceous plant 80 cm high. It produces elongated clusters of very small pale yellow flowers. Also called “bastard flax”, “little flax” or “German sesame”, it is a plant that is very widely found in France today.
The oil is produced by first cold pressing of mechanically cleaned seeds, without any intervention of solvent or chemical product. This gives a fluid oil, golden yellow in color which develops a characteristic asparagus odor. Camelina oil is very rich in essential fatty acids (60%), not synthesized by the body.
Rich in omega-3 and omega-6 and very close to flaxseed oil, it can be used in cooking as well as in cosmetics, provided you do not heat it. Its regenerating and restorative properties are also appreciated in anti-aging treatments to reduce the signs of aging. Its soothing and restorative properties work wonders on sensitive skin.
