Matcha tea, our back-to-school ally!

Well, the holidays are over and the start of the new school year is just around the corner, so it's high time to stock up on energy and get ready to fight the cold which will arrive much sooner than we would like! For this, BeautyMix wants to share with you one of its anti-fatigue secrets while providing our body and our skin with the best care… Our secret? Matcha tea!

Matcha is a dark green tea ground into a powder. What differentiates it from other teas is in particular its mode of production. Indeed in order to harvest the best tea, the plants of the latter are covered with a cloth one month before its harvest which allows the plants to produce many amino acids.

Matcha is THE tea of the moment! Long kept secret, Matcha tea was mainly used by the Chinese Emperor and then by Buddhist monks who used it as a remedy to fight against fatigue during their long meditation sessions. It was also known to prolong life expectancy. Since then, Buddhist monks have developed what we now call the "tea ceremony". Today, Matcha is etched in Japanese culture.

Matcha tea is usually used during the tea ceremony, so as a drink. In order to obtain all the benefits, it is recommended to follow the tea ceremony:

  • Boil your water at 80°C
  • In your bowl (or your mug if you don't have a bowl) add 1g of Matcha tea powder
  • Pour 80ml of water
  • Beat the matcha using the traditional bamboo whisk

Tea is drunk frothy. Good tasting !

But, Matcha tea has more than one string to its bow!! This tea with multiple virtues (antioxidant, energizing, improves immune defences, etc.) is also widely used in cooking... On the menu? Cookies, cakes, marbled, pancakes, ice cream, energy balls… and so on!! We also can't miss the matcha latte (ultra comforting under a plaid in winter).

And finally, last use and not least… Matcha tea is also used in COS-MÉ-TIC! We love it especially because it helps us to fight against redness, against the signs of aging of the skin, it also helps to regulate sebum and to fight against acne!!

Here we give you an ultra-simple little mask recipe to try at home!

You need :

  • 1 teaspoon matcha tea
  • 1/2 teaspoon organic honey

Mix the two ingredients together. If the consistency is too solid, you can add a few drops of water to the mixture. Apply the mask for 10 to 15 minutes on your face. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
